Standards & Transparency

How this archive is built, what sources are used, how coverage is tracked, and how errors are corrected.

Sourcing standards

Every Claim Has a Source

Every factual claim in this archive is attributed to a named primary source. Summaries reflect what the source says — not what we conclude from it.

Attribution on every entry — Source name, URL, and type labeled on each record.
Allegations vs. findings — "Filed" and "alleged" are used for unresolved matters. Adjudicated outcomes are labeled.
No stronger claim than the source — We do not assert liability, fraud, or wrongdoing unless a court or agency has made that finding.
Coverage caveats — We do not claim comprehensive coverage of all filings. Source notes explain what each connector does and does not cover.
Third-party data labeled — BBB and similar third-party platforms are labeled as such. Counts are reported figures, not verified totals.

Language we use

"According to the filing"attribution to a court document
"Public records show"sourced factual claim
"Complaints describe"consumer-reported, not verified
"The docket reflects"sourced from court record
"The agency announced"sourced from official press release
"Committed fraud"legal conclusion — not used unless adjudicated
"Is a scam"editorial opinion — not used
"All filings show"completeness claim — never made

Review workflow

How Records Enter the Archive

1

Ingestion

Records fetched from public sources via automated connectors and manual research. Nothing is published at this stage.

2

Staging

Records are normalized, deduplicated, and placed in the review queue. All staged records are private.

3

Editorial review

A reviewer verifies the source URL, assigns content type, writes summary and context, and either approves or rejects.

4

Publication

Only approved records with verified sources are published. Metrics update automatically. Activity log records the event.

Non-negotiable rule: Nothing scraped or ingested auto-publishes to the public site. All ingested data passes through human editorial review before publication. Staging data is never publicly accessible.
